Heres a book I have been looking for for sometime. Written by Amy Wallace who thought she knew him well, its probably the last of the eyewitness accounts of Carlos, who I just find incredibly funny. Doesnt really matter if the people recording liked him or not, he was having a good time and his spirit shone thru. And here it is all for free some of it anyway. Paul Gauguin
I always liked Gauguin altho not hugely. However I have access to several biographies on him at present and I find I can relate to what he was doing quite easily. Its very hard (impossible for those with intelligence and taste) to go back to a cold isolated prudish western life after having living in the ease, beauty and barbarism of many of the tropical countries. Raf Val
is an artist I admire. He doesn’t do porn because hes dislikes the excess publicity but his style is basically pornographic all the same. Here’s one he did entitled Singapore Subway. Raf Val’s website.
Porn is Good
Apparently porn is good for society. It reduces sex crimes and even makes people that view it nicer. Even child porn reduces child abuse according to this study in The Scientist. What the study did find was that what does correlate highly with sexual offenses is a strict, repressive religious upbringing.
Oil Spills
To put it in perspective, the atmosphere is about 4 times bigger then the sea. Every day we are pumping the equivalent of 5000 gulf oil spills into it. As Picasso said, to the effect, everyone copies but the great steal. So I was interested to find that one of my favourite Kate Bush songs was written by James Joyce, altho, probably luckily for Kate, his descendants self importance meant she had to rewrite it.
