Herd of Birds

Cool video of a flock of starlings.

Noam Chomsky and John Pilger

The universe is a chaotic dog-eat-dog hierarchical structure and human society is a case in point. Those in power have the power and they steal from the rest. Theres not much that can be done about it, altho at times a chance arises, such as when the French cut off all the aristocrats heads, of [...]

The Oil Age is Over

There was a time when I was into this sort of thing, until I had an erotic dream involving a motorbike (the end of the video with the dog is almost as disturbing now that Ive noticed it). Now I have little interest in technology in general. The reason I posted this tho, is that [...]

Home

Shot mostly from helicopter by Yann Arthus-Bertrand the photography is spectacular, I recommend checking out the full movie at Home.  The commentary seems to wind up a few people altho it doesnt seem too outrageous to me.

Asperatus

This is apparently a new type of cloud which is going to be named Asperatus. This photo was shot at Hamner Springs in New Zealand but it seems to be occurring all round the world, at least in alpine regions. Quite spectacular altho all the shots Ive seen could have been photoshopped, seems genuine tho. [...]

Inside a Wave

I dont know why they use such droney voices and music on the BBC, or most TV for that matter, its partly why I never watch, but the shots here of the vortexes inside the wave are something I had never seen before.

Willie Smits: How we re-grew a rainforest

By piecing together a complex ecological puzzle, biologist Willie Smits has found a way to re-grow clearcut rainforest in Borneo, saving local orangutans — and creating a thrilling blueprint for restoring fragile ecosystems.

Edward O. Wilson – State of the Planet

How pressing is the risk? Enough, I think, to change thinking about human self-preservation fundamentally. The current state of the environment can be summarized thus:
The global population is precariously large, and will become much more so before peaking some time after 2050. Humanity overall is improving per capita production, health, and longevity. But it is [...]

Baraka

This
is a great movie by Ron Fricke, a little short on dialog but thats ok
with me. I guess you could say its an overview of life on earth showing
the great variety and the similarities of aspects of both humanity and
nature.
